No one talks about accessible design, even less about neurodiversity and design. That's why I started this blog, The disabled architect.
Hi I'm Adina and I'm the disabled architect.
I'm an actually autistic architecture student with a pinch of ADHD. Here I explore accessible design and the concept of it.
My hope with this blog is to inspire people in creating accessible design.
Me
My badge of honors
- Asthma
- Raynaud's phenomenon
- Endometriosis
- Autism spectrum disorder
Exploring the concept of accessible design is something that I've done for years, if not even my whole life. I grew up in a big family where everyone has a disability, mostly Autism but also some weird ones.
As many others on the spectrum, I had a long journey to a degree. I just wanted to build houses as a kid but then I got Reaynauds, so I shifted my focus to technical architecture.
During my first time at university I got my Endometriosis and Autism diagnoses. I dropped out at that time, had some odd jobs and went through therapy to learn to live with my disabilities.
After some years I got back to university to finalize a double bachelor in building engineering and architecture. Fingers crossed🤞, if I don't get another diagnosis, after 13 years I will finally have my degree this summer.
So if you're disabled and struggling, I hear you. I know how it can be and is to be disabled. My biggest hope is that this blog will give you something.

If I'm not answering immediately, do not worry. With this autism thingy I try to not get a social burnout so I usually answer all of my messages once a day.
